Sometimes
I am asked why I call myself the songman, the reason is, I have a song
in my heart for Jesus. David said let the righteous be glad and to
rejoice before God. If you are a child of God you should be the
happiest person on earth. You should sing praises to Him and let it
show in your daily life. When Moses and the Hebrew nation crossed the
Red Sea, one of the first things he did was praise God with a song.
Then sang Moses and the children of
Israel this song unto the LORD, and spoke, saying, I will sing unto the
LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he
thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become
my salvation: he is my God, (Exodus 15:1-2)
In
this song Moses refers to the Lord as his strength, song and salvation.
This means the Lord is in control of his whole existence, from the
strength to make it through the day, his outlook on life and his future
existence. Of these three things, strength and salvation are already
determined in my life by God and can't be changed.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(Philippians 4:13)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(Ephesians 2:8)
The
third one {my song} is one that I have to be reminded of daily. This is
my attitude toward God and others, my outlook on life, my continence,
or how I project myself. I remind myself daily that I have Jesus in my
heart and there is no reason to worry or be unhappy. I try to keep a
smile on my face, sing praises to Jesus and thank Him every day for the
happiness that he has given me.
